Hello I am Johnny Leatherman, a 3rd generation Leatherman farmer. The Leatherman Farm was started by my grandfather, BG Leatherman in 1916. He grew cotton and ran a small dairy. In the 1920's, he decided to change over to apples and opened the first commercial apple orchard in Lincoln County. My father Lewis and his brother Dale ran the farm from the late 1960's until the mid 1990's. My father later transitioned the farm to produce and plants. I helped my dad when I wasn't working and later took over after he passed away.
My father helped to start the first farmers market in Lincoln County and my Uncle Dale helped start the Apple Festival. Our farm is 102 years old so I feel that growing plants is in my blood. I enjoy working with different plants and observing how they grow.
